Happy Turkey Day

This comic perfectly sums up my feelings about christmas celebration before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving happens to be my favorite holiday. While I am no Grinch, I just love how Thanksgiving is about family and food the same way Christmas is without all the consumerism and stress of worrying about what to get people. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a holiday involving wine, turkey, apple pie and shouting (we get a little heated with some of our "discussions" and "debates").

Happy Turkey Day!!

Wedding Season: Part II

Two weddings in three weeks? Crazy! My friends Matt and Ashley took the leap and got hitched. It was a long time coming and I'm so happy for them. Their wedding was sweet and simple with DIY fall themed decorations. While I wish the area where the ceremony took place was bigger so we could see better, it was a great wedding just the same. There were moments of laughter during the ceremony, which is completely fitting of their personalities since you can't take either one of them seriously. And when they were declared husband and wife, Matt threw up is fist breakfast club style and walked out.

As for the reception, Ang and I once again had fun dancing around carelessly. This is the first wedding I've been to with a date and Mike was such a trooper. He even danced a couple slow songs with me! It was a great night filled with great friends, great laughs and great memories.

Package Pals 2011

Can we please talk about how AMAZING an idea this package pals thing was?!  I am a huge lover of snail mail so when I heard about package pals from Gentri Lee I signed right up! Now I have an awesome new friend in Portugal, Rita, and (hopefully soon) an awesome new international package. I'm so impatient so I hope my package gets here soon because it looks like a million things I will love!

As for my package, I tried to make a lot of homemade things to add a personal touch. Its really hard to think of things to send that are unique to America so I just tried to make things that she would hopefully find special. I also made some stationary so hopefully we can continue to be pen (or package) pals in the future! I found a lot of these crafts on this website. Check them out and try them for yourself!

My package to Rita included...
{I've become a huge fan of home manicures now and wanted to share my love of nail stickers}
{A homemade wire knot ring}
{A magazine rolled picture frame. I was covered in glue!}
{Magnetic buttons}
{Homemade stationary}
{A pretty blue/teal scarf}
{I made tags for everything and labeled everything}

P.S. Apparently you can't cover mail in newspaper and ship it internationally. Do I look like a terrorist to you U.S. postal service?

New York! New York!

I'm off to take New York City by storm this weekend! I'm hoping on the Megabus tomorrow to meet up with my good friend Kim (whom I met during my study abroad in Wales) in the city for an adventure like no other. She's a force to be reckoned with, so I'm super stoked to find out what our weekend has in store for us. What are you all up to this weekend?

Happy Friday!

Cookbook: Cake Pops

Who doesn't love cake pops? Cake pops are the new cupcakes when it comes to baking fads and honestly, I really hope this trend sticks around. I was so eager to try to make my own version of these bad boys, especially since I had tried them way back in March at Cake, Bake and Roll in Long Branch, NJ while visiting Angela. I found this recipe, but used funfetti cake mix instead of plain vanilla. Honestly, next time I think I'll make vanilla cake and then just mix the sprinkles in when I add the icing because when the cake browned in the oven, the cake balls looked more brown than funfetti. But they tasted great all the same! I made some Halloween themed for my office and let Mike and the boys finish off the rest (after I sneaked in my handful).

Have you tried making these puppies yourself? Have you at least had them (if you haven't, may I ask where your current residence is located? Perhaps under a rock...)?

Stars Hallow Double Take

I grew up watching Gilmore Girls and I used to dream of living in a town like Stars Hallow. Well folks, it exists, and it's Bellfonte, Pennsylvania. Angela and I stuck around the town after the wedding that Sunday and got breakfast at this cute cafe, went antiquing, stopped in a cupcake shop, watched their Halloween parade and gawked at the beyond adorable toddlers and children running around in their costumes at the park in the middle of town. It was such a relaxing day and I couldn't have been happier to be spending it with the best friend :)

Book Review: Bossypants

Oh Tina Fey, how you crack me up! Bossypants was an enjoyable read full of one-liners and whitty advice. While I've never followed 30 Rock, I am a Tina Fey fan. Her book walks you through her life from summers at acting camp to her time on SNL, her daughter and her double life as Sarah Palin. I finished it in a weekend and would definitely recommend it to a friend for a quick pick-me-up kind of read.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I've skipped all over the place with my last few posts! This isn't hop, skip and jump class kids, its a blog and it needs order (okay maybe not but it doesn't hurt to try).

Welp, the birthday has come and gone and I'm 22. Now, I've never had a problem with birthdays, never felt any "different" on my birthday but BAM! 22 hits and I felt old. No clue why. Maybe Freud would have some answers but as for me, I just know I felt old. At least I could count on my best friend to cheer me up! We decided to meet up in Tannersville and hit the outlets for some retail therapy, Indian cuisine and  alcohol to help cheer me up. Angela knows me so well! I have been dying to go to a winery since I hit 21 but have yet to make it. Well Ang was able to find this small winery near the outlets for us to check out and get our girl chat on. We got a wine glass, 6 samples (although we shared so more like 12 samples), and the equivalent of about three glasses of wine for $3. Can you believe it!? Maybe 22 isn't so bad after all ;)
