Ever seen Mean Girls (if you haven't, can you send me the address to the rock you must be living under)? A clique of four girls with a nickname (a.k.a. the plastics). Welp, my friends and we might be just as equally pathetic. Why? Because we call ourselves the Fab Four. I know, I know, we're clearly middle school pre-teens. Maybe some quick back story is in order to explain ourselves. Nicole and I have been best friends since 6th grade. I decided to follow her to Wilkes for college (she had gotten into a guaranteed seat pharmacy program and I was too nervous to make all new friends yet again after moving just two years prior). Ang was pharmacy as well. Abby was Bio (with pretty much all the same classes as pharmacy). Needless to say we all met within the first few weeks of school and remained friends all four years of college. We all had other friends and hung in difference circles at times, but by the time senior year rolled around, we had found that as other friends came and went, we were a drama-less group that fit perfectly. And when I started having Sunday night dinners at my apartment, it was firmly established that the four of us weren't going to let graduation or rotations or whatever else life threw our way separate us.
Fast forward a year. Nicole and Ang were starting their pharmacy rotations and last year of school. Abby was about to start her second year of grad school at PCOM and I was working. We had hung out as a foursome only once since graduation. Holly unacceptable! With Nicole's 23rd birthday around the corner, we decided a weekend getaway was just what we needed. And what better place than Wildwood, NJ? We met at Abby's apartment in Philly to eat cake and open presents, then woke up at the ass crack of dawn to drive to the beach. We spent two blissful days soaking up the glorious rays of early summer. There was no conflict. No fights. Absolutely no drama (aside from an unacceptable hotel situation that had me waving a finger around like a ghetto ass white girl and us switching to the hotel across the street unexpectedly. Which, quite frankly, was a cheaper upgrade), which suffice to say, is a rarity when four girls and extended periods together are involved. We ate ice cream (twice!), had a fancy dinner at sunset on the water, had a silly photo shoot, went on a grueling tough two mile run in the morning sun/heat, ate almost an entire box of taffy in one sitting (wait, maybe that was just me. whoops!) and laughed our freaking butts off. Its so amazing what an effortless friends weekend can do for your spirit. The only downer? Having to split up once again and go back to our separate lives.
Hopefully another reunion will occur sometime before Christmas (ahem! guys...lets get working on that shall we?).
